FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is CBD?

CBD is the abbreviation that stands for Cannabinoid. CBD is one of many compounds derived from the Cannabis plant. CBD is a phytocannabinoid which is similar in chemical structure to endocannabinoids, which are produced by the endocannabinoid system in our human bodies. Although it should be noted that ongoing research is progressing regarding how CBD phytocannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system.

Are Hemp and Marijuana the same plant?

While the Hemp and marijuana plants look very similar to each other and both are varieties of the Cannabis Sativa plant, they do have genetic chemical differences. The Marijuana plant contains high amounts of THC, or Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, the chemical compound responsible for psychoactive effects. While the hemp plant does contain trace amounts of THC naturally, it lacks such a substantial amount (not to exceed more than 0.3% THC) that it could rarely, if at all, affect the consumer. Both the marijuana plant and the hemp plant have the capacity to produce CBD and THC compounds. However, the hemp plant produces rather high amounts of CBD, and only a trace amount of THC(0.3% or less), making it the ideal candidate for CBD-based products.

Am I going to fail a drug test from Hemp CBD skincare products?

As of the date this has been written, there has been no known cases of a person failing a drug test from topical CBD products. It has been generally stated that CBD has zero psychoactive effects and is non-intoxicating to the consumer. Some pharmaceutical prescriptions may interact with CBD and may contraindicate a persons ability to safely consume CBD, so we firmly advise you consult with your doctor or other medical care professional before introducing CBD into your routine.

What is the difference between Full-Spectrum Hemp CBD (FSH) and CBD isolate (ISO)?

While Full-spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate are both great forms of CBD, there are differences between the two descriptions. Full-Spectrum Hemp CBD simply means the entire hemp plant structure was used in curating that CBD, this can include the stalks, branches, flora, and leaves. Full-spectrum Hemp CBD contains all the chemical compounds that makeup the overall genetics of the hemp plant, and can carry up to but does not exceed 0.3% THC. Whereas CBD isolate means the CBD compound alone is extracted from the hemp plant. CBD isolate ensures that traces of any other compounds found in the hemp plant are not found in the CBD isolate, resulting in a pure compound that is completely free of any amount of THC, CBG, and other genetic plant compounds.

Is CBD considered safe?

Many people are hesitant to support the use of CBD due to misinterpreting information found on the internet or due to the social stigma about Cannabis Sativa plants altogether, thus causing a lot of confusion. However, CBD is non-intoxicating and does not alter psychomotor or psychological functions in the body. The safety of CBD has been assessed by the World Health Organization(WHO). The WHO has found that CBD is non-habit forming and has noted that there are no effects of dependence.

Why use Hemp CBD skincare products?

We believe the hemp plant and CBD could benefit your skin if used correctly. Hemp has great sources of Omegas 3 and 6, as well as terpenes, flavonoids, and antioxidants. Hemp may have an anti-inflammatory effect and could be helpful to calming down reactions in skin after irritations occur(such as waxing, microdermabrasion, chemical exfoliation, or other common ailments of the epidermis). In 2014, there was a study published suggesting that CBD may assist in calming the skin’s overproduction of sebum oil, excess sebum oil produced in our skin is the leading cause of P. Acne, the bacteria known to cause excessive breakouts. This means it could potentially limit or decrease the skin’s acne breakout activity. Finding all of these qualities in the humble hemp plant makes it an ideal candidate in the world of cosmetic skincare.

How do you know you are buying a quality Hemp CBD product?

First, know that cultivating, curating, and testing for high-quality organic hemp is both an extensive and expensive process. If you find an advertised CBD product is cheap, be cautious, as it may be an inferior CBD product or may contain no CBD at all. Second, understand that the hemp plant is known to absorb impurities in its soil, so it is best to use Hemp that has been grown organically, with the proper pH-balanced soil, and without GMOs or pesticides. Always check the purity and potency results from a verified third-party lab to ensure there are no residual solvents, heavy metals, toxins, or pesticides in your CBD product.

Is Hemp/CBD considered Legal in the USA?

Hemp and CBD was not always legal in the United States, to help you understand better, we have created a quick timeline of government acts that helped us to where we are now:

In 1970, the Comprehensive Drug Abuse and Prevention Control Act listed hemp and marijuana plants as a schedule 1 drug. This classification lumped both the hemp and marijuana plants with addictive substances (such as Ecstasy or Heroin).

In 2009, Hemp was removed from the list of schedule 1 drugs when the Industrial Hemp Farming Act was passed by the United States government. This Farming Act of 2009 removed restrictions for cultivating industrial hemp, and considered it an agricultural product.

In 2018, the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 was passed by the United States and onto President Trump’s desk, and he signed it into law on December 20, 2018. Therefore, as of December 20, 2018, hemp plants (Cannabis Sativa plants that do not exceed 0.03% THC) are deemed legal at the federal level. It should be noted that although CBD is federally legal, there are some areas that still have restrictions on purchasing hemp/CBD at a State level. Avoid receiving possession charges or fines by checking with your local state regulations and laws before purchasing any CBD products.
